Michelle L. Edens

Criminal Attorney, Michelle Edens, was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, earning a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors from Southern Illinois University, a Master’s Degree with High Honors from William Woods University in Missouri, and a Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in California. Attorney Edens is licensed to practice law in Illinois and maintains good standing with the Illinois Supreme Court.

Ms. Edens has been recognized for her accomplishments by numerous legal authorities and was awarded the prestigious “Top 40 Trial Lawyers Under 40” by The National Trial Lawyers organization. She also continues to participate as an active member in various Bar Associations in Northern Illinois including those in DuPage County and Cook County.

Before joining Mitchell S. Sexner & Associates LLC, Attorney Edens spent many years as partner in a private practice criminal defense firm solely devoted to serious traffic and criminal cases, which is where she developed the keen legal research and writing skills that have come to be her hallmark. Ms. Edens excels in her ability to articulate complex legal issues, crafting them into persuasive motions and then successfully presenting those issues in court in order to achieve consistently positive outcomes for her clients.

Over the course of her criminal defense career, Attorney Edens has zealously defended hundreds of clients facing offenses ranging from minor traffic offenses to the most serious of criminal cases during both trials and plea negotiations. Some of the many types of cases Ms. Edens has successfully handled include DUI, driving while license suspended/revoked, fleeing and eluding, theft, assault and battery, drug possession/manufacture/delivery, gun charges, and forgery, as well as homicide/murder cases.

Additionally, her experience and dedication to working with adolescents facing criminal charges, adults struggling with addiction, and individuals with various mental health diagnoses has consistently resulted in her clients securing positive legal outcomes in juvenile court, mental health court, and drug court. Her reputation as an aggressive courtroom litigator also extends to formal hearings with the Illinois Secretary of State, as well as court hearings to expunge criminal records.
