Kane Branch Court
The Kane Branch Court is located at 530 Randall Road in St Charles near the Randall Plaza Shopping Center and across from the Kane County Fairgrounds. A free parking lot is available at Kane Branch Court. Just make sure not to confuse it with the much larger main Kane County courthouse also in St. Charles and just about a mile away. This building is much smaller and doesn’t have nearly as many courtrooms. At the Kane County Branch court on Randall Road, they hear many kinds of cases such as traffic tickets, various local ordinance violations and misdemeanors, but not felonies at this facility. Those are heard in the Main courthouse.
SEXNER’S PRO LEGAL TIP: Suspended license tickets are a very common site at branch courts including the Kane Branch Court. A license may be suspended for any number of reasons and many times, for multiple reasons all at the same time. Sometimes, when the reason for a suspension is minor, the judge or prosecutor may not consider the suspended license ticket to be that serious, while other times, the same suspended license ticket may be incredibly serious with many years of mandatory prison time attached to it.
Basically, the reason (or reasons) for a suspension are really important when determining whether you’re in a little bit of trouble or a whole lot of trouble. But in any event, suspended license tickets in Illinois are usually Class A misdemeanors that are punishable by up to $2500 in fines and up to a year in jail. That’s why most of the time, a judge will tell you to go away and return on another court date if you show up empty-handed without an attorney by your side.
When a license has been suspended because of a prior DUI case, a special set of laws applies to these cases. If it’s the first time, then it’s usually a misdemeanor. But if it’s not, the case may be upgraded to a felony by the State’s Attorney. You should always contact an experienced attorney’s office such as Sexner & Associates LLC to determine how best to help you when charged with a suspended license ticket.
